Prof. Dr. Santiago Garcia Granda

Full professor of Physical-Chemistry, University. Degree, 1980, and PhD, 1984, in Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Oviedo. Postdoctoral scholarship holder at the University of Nijmegen (Holland), 1985/87, with Professor Paul T. Beurskens. Leads the X-rays Team, and the SYSTAM Group, of the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry and the CSIC Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Institute (CINN). Specialist in structural determination, molecular crystallography and calculations. From May of 2008 to April 2012 was Vice-Chancellor for Research of the University of Oviedo, and Executive Secretary of the R&D commission of the CRUE, and is the current Past-President of the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) which is serving since August 2006. Prof. Dr. Nawal SERRADJI Nawal Serradji is currently developping new chemical entities for therapeutic use. She is particularly interested in the synthesis and the structure-activity relationship studies of piperazine derivatives for an application in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Website:



Professor Brindaban C. Ranu received his early education in CalcuttaUniversity. In graduate studies he worked with Professor Ernest Wenkert at RiceUniversity, Houston, Texas, USA and with Professor UR Ghatak at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Calcutta. He then took up a postdoctoral position at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA with Professor T. Hudlicky. He started independent research at the department of Organic Chemistry, IACS in 1985 as a Lecturer and was promoted to the post of Professor in 1996 and Senior Professor in 2005. He was a visiting Professor at Universidad de Extremadura, Badajoz, Spain during 1995-96. Professor Ranu has been elected Fellow of the IndianAcademy of Sciences in 1995 and Fellow of the IndianNationalScienceAcademy in 2007. He has received Prof. NS Narasimhan Award in Chemistry in 1993 and Chemical Research Society Bronze Medal in 2001 and Silver Medal in 2010. He received JC Bose National Fellowship in 2008 awarded by DST, Govt. of India. During the last few years, Professor Ranu also visited several Universities and Institutes in USA, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Taiwan, China, and Japan and delivered lectures. He has been invited to write reviews for various journals including Tetrahedron, Synlett, Organic Preparations and Procedure International and European Journal of Organic Chemistry. He has published more than 212 papers in journals of international repute and so far 23 students have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision.

Dr. Mohamed Radwan is a Research Scientist at the NationalCenter for Natural Products Research, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, USA and Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt.

He has a Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Alexandria, Egypt. He worked as a postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Center for Natural Products Research, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, USA from 2005-2011. Dr. Radwan has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scholarly articles, one patent and two book chapters. His research focused on the isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive metabolites form plant, marine and fungi sources with special emphasis on Cannabis chemistry, and analysis, as well as production of Cannabis extract and cannabinoids under GMP guidelines.



Dr Nessar Ahmed is a Reader in Clinical biochemistry at the School of Healthcare Science, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research in Karachi and a Visiting Scientist at the KingAbdulAzizUniversity, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dr Ahmed received his postdoctoral training at the New York Medical College, USA and University of Birmingham, UK. Dr Ahmed is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science and holds membership of the Biochemical Society, Association for Clinical Biochemistry, Diabetes UK, Diabetes and Obesity Research Network and the International Maillard Reaction Society, USA. He received the British Muslim Award 2014 for Services to Sciences & Engineering and in 2013, he was a top-cited author for the journal Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice. In 2010, Dr Ahmed received the MMU Teaching Award for Best Supervisor by MMU Student’s Union. His research interests include; glycation of proteins in diabetic complications, identification of natural products with antiglycation, antioxidant and antiangiogenic properties and lead and manganese levels in childhood iron deficiency. He has supervised over 20 PhD students. He is the author of over 100 publications and this includes four highly regarded textbooks used world-wide on biomedical science programmes. These include Biology of Disease published in 2007 by Taylor and Francis, Clinical Biochemistry and Biomedical Science Practice both published in 2011 by Oxford University Press and Blood Science: Principles and Pathology published in 2014 by Wiley-Blackwell. Website:

Prof. Dr. Shaaban K. Mohamed Born on 26th Feb 1962, graduated from MiniaUniversity on June 1984 and awarded his Master degree in Organic heterocyclic synthesis from same university on 1989. On 1991 has been granted a joint schoolarship with Duisburg university, Germany where he completed his PhD and awarded his PhD degree on May 1994. He worked as a lecturer of chemistry at El-miniaUniversity from 1994 till June1999. He has been granted a visiting scientist opportiunity at UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), UK till End of 2001 in the field of pharmaceutical/synthetical chemistry. On February 2002 has been appointed as Assist. Prof. at MiniaUniversity. On October 2002 till July 2008 was appointed has granted senior research visiting position at Manchester University, United Kingdom in the field of Organic synthesis of bio-active molecules. On August 2011 till now has been appointed as a chemistry tutor and a visiting Proffesor based research projects pursuing and publications at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. He established many of collaporative research projects across the globe. He published over than 235 articles, reviews and presentations of his research results. About 220 papers have been published from United Kingdom. He is an Editor and peer reviewer in many of scientific journals. On 2013 he has been awarded the Knowledge Exchange Prize of the year 2013 from ManchesterMetropolitanUniversity.
